EXPO HALL. EKO HOTEL & SUITES... Red Carpet Design for Passage

Sorry for not been up-to-date on my tutorials, i was busy... I was contacted by Wildcard Events & Media Ltd to prepare a red carpet scene for the EKO HOTEL & SUITE passage. They gave me the scenario of what they had to plan for work with which was in 2D form. It was an interesting project, because I'll have to model and texture complex objects. I noticed i problems with lightening scenes. So I went back to my archives to find tutorial on lightening. Believe me it only took me 6hrs 10mins to perfect the job. See pics below..

MODELING: 1hr
TEXTURING: 1Hour
LIGHTENING: 4HRS
RENDERING: 10mins

Dont forget to call me for 3D plan for your events. Believe its the next line of presentation.. 08035507465

Ok..I think..its really cool creating plans for the Red Carpet plans for two straight events. Well i just got a call to create a plan for the Exquisite Magazine Party against cancer. Will be checking out the location tomorrow and work with their design.. Will update my blog as soon as the event holds....

3D plan of Red Carpet design for WED Magazine launch

Its was an interesting project i worked on for Wildcard Events and Media ltd on their Red Carpet plan for the WED Magazine launch. It took 1hour to Model, but texturing took 2hrs...you know i had to make sure i use the proper texture, most of which were taken with my blackberry camera. Lightening the scene took most of my time. What was needed was a static shots of angles that gives a clear description of the plan.

take a look below

'Cheap Facial Motion Capture Video Tutorial'

Software Used:

After Effects, Maya and MatchMover

The purpose of this tutorial is to show that even a small studio can afford to use facial motion capture. As an animator in the computer games industry I have, on numerous occasions, been approached by the creative producer regarding the possibility of producing minutes upon minutes of lip-sync animation. Sadly the time frame has always been too tight to deliver a quality that I can personally be proud of. The technique presented in this tutorial is an attempt to bridge the gap between large quantities of lip-syncing and a tight time budget.
You can download an example video from this URL to get started on your own project: http://www.ericthelander.com/tutorial/cheapFacialMotionCapture.zip
This tutorial requires knowledge of character rigging, skin binding, and skin painting in Maya.

How to Orient the Local Rotation Axis (LRA) of a Joint'

Software Used:

Maya

If you’re new to what a local rotation axis is, let’s start with a scenario you may have already seen and didn’t know how to fix.
Let’s say I’m creating a new rig for a character and working on the arm specifically. I click out a series of joints for the arm, but they aren’t quite in the right place for my mesh so I have to move them to get them in the position of the arm. (Unless you built your arms straight out along the grid, you usually have to move them some. Like if you built them in the front view, you’ll likely have to move them to line them up with the arm in the side view. And for the sake of this tutorial, let’s assume I’m really bad at placing joints so it’s easier to see the point I’m trying to demonstrate.)

Creating Realistic Glass Using 3 Different Materials'

Software Used: Maya & Mental Ray

For this demo we will utilize Maya's Blinn material, Ramp texture, and Sampler Info utility. We will also use Mental Ray's Dielectric Material and new Mia_material. The user of this tutorial should note that I have also used Mental Ray as my renderer, with Final Gathering, Global Illumination, Caustics, and Image Based lighting used for optimal realism.

Creating Glass with a Blinn:

Our first step is to create the geometry for the glasses. Whilst simple, we need to make sure that the revolved surface (constructed here using a NURBS) is thicker at the base (just like a real pint glass).

Next, I duplicate out a few of these, and set up the scene. My render settings are listed here as well
